Dear Mom:
I have not much news right now but I know you always welcome letter so here is another.
Your letter of the 4th arrived here the 11th which is not so bad. On Saturday 300 Exports from Dad arrived and just in time as I was out. The lighter arrived O.K. and also the Postal Note, the letter was very welcome.
My pen ran out of ink so will continue in pencil.
If all goes well and I get my pass I will be going down to Torquay this weekend. The reason I will be able to go is because I will be getting a 48 along with it otherwise I could not make.
The new job is going fine and the way things look I may be here to stay for a while.
The Capt. Here asked some of us who are attached here if we would volunteer to be taken on strength today. The only thing I don't like about that is the fact that I would no longer be in the artillery. Also it might mean that I would be here for about a year yet or at least until the laundry closes when ever that is. I will be getting trades pay as long as I stay on the job I have now and I don't think I could get it else where. If I can keep drawing that it will boost my gratuity that much more. So if in the near future you should see that I am a Private instead of a Gunner don't be surprised.
The weather has not been very good for the last few weeks but for a change the sun stayed out nearly all day today.
Now with so many of the boys turning up has there been any word of Ted Alexander?
Well when I get home I will know all about the laundry business at least the repair end of it and around this place there is plenty.
Here is the end of the paper so I haven to close for now.
Love
Ted.
