Dear Mother,
I received your letter yesterday also one from Mr. Teer and I enjoyed them very much. I just got a parcel from the Sunday School at Hulbert, also somebody went me a copy of the Iroquois High School Commencement. I also got a parcel of papers [paper ripped] I made sure that they came from home as it was Myrtle's writing.
I got the underwear sometime ago and it is Jake. Nolie before going away wanted to get a suit of combinations but mine had not arrived, so after I got them I wrote and asked him if he wanted a suit so am sending him one. He is getting along alright although he claims it is an awful place. I had a letter from Jes Bosworth I got a parcel from Aunt Nettie & a card from Aunt Laura.
Told [letter torn for one line] that Jonnie was killed, but I do not know whether it is true or not. I received a card from Mrs. H. T. Morrison, Rufus Keys is in the hospital here. He is wounded in the shoulder and expects to go back to Canada. [paper torn for half a line]. & I go over and see him and he sure enjoys it. He is looking very good now, although I do not think that he will ever have the use of his shoulder as part of the bone is taken [?] and there is some shrapnel in there yet.
[?] had a [paper torn] dinner. It was away beyond my expectations and the rooms were decorated splendidly. I certainly enjoyed it and so did everyone else. I will send you the menu we had but alot of the stuff is not on it.
I was away on pass. I went to London then to Plymouth. I have never seen Aunt Vera's sister. I intended to write but let it go until before Christmas. Then I would not write until after the holidays. I am going to write to them one of these days. I never met Evans our wrote to him and [letter folded and illegible].
I must close to go to dinner. It is fish to day so I hope I miss it. I just [?] it from stables as I do not like cleaning saddles. Well good bye.
With Love,
Hadden
