Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Senton,

Box 150,

Simpson, Saskatchewan.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Senton: Re P/O Claude SENTON

(J89686)

We have received your letter of May 8th concerning your son, the above-named officer, and regret that at present there is no further information available regarding him, other than that already received by you.

According to our records all members of the crew of your son's aircraft have been presumed dead for official purposes, with the exception of your son and Warrant Officer J.O. Burke. However, we are advised by the Royal Canadian Air Force Casualty Branch that action is being taken to presume Warrant Officer Burke's death also.

When, as unfortunately is often the case, an aircraft is lost in the course of an operation which takes it over the seas as well as over the land, the possibility has to be faced that the actual crash may have occurred in the sea, but every endeavour is made, nevertheless, to search all likely land areas. You may rest assured that any information obtained will be sent forward to you without delay by the Royal Canadian Air Force. Should any word of your son reach our Bureau we shall send it on to you at once.

May we offer our sincere sympathy during these anxious days for you, as we can well realize how difficult this lack of particulars regarding your son must be for you to bear.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. Jackson W. Cook,

Acting Director.
