Diary
Friday August 25, 1916
At 4 p.m. yesterday, the 26th moved out of its trenches along with the 22nd, 24th, and 25th. The whole division is to go to St. Omar for a rest for about 3 weeks or a month. We had a very exciting and risky time getting out. The 25th had 30 casualties though of this bunch only one was killed. Four of our fellows had slight scratches. But we arrived at Renningheist about 10:30 p.m. Having been scattered into 2's and 3's by Fritzie's shell fire, we came dropping into camp 'cross country until 4 a.m. the next morning.
