On Active Service
Dear Uncle Sol & Aunt Maggie
Just a line to let you know I am well and getting along fine out here at the Front.
I got a couple of letters from home lately also one from Ona.
I suppose you are working hard these days.
The weather out here is dry and dusty and I guess it is summer weather now.
I am living under ground out here. I have about seventy-five steps to climb every time I go out so it is some work climbing the stairs.
I am not in the front line trenches yet, but in a working party out hear at the Front.
Hope this letter finds you in the best of health as it leave me in the best of health. I am having some experience out here.
I got a parcel from home and it had about a pint of honey in it from Mrs. Mitchel and it was certinly good.
If you have any honey on hand take some to Mother and she will send it over to me. Once I get the taste of honey I want more. My address is the 19th Battalion Canadians
B.E.F. France.
If you see Grandda and Uncle Arthur tell them I am well and hope to be home by this Christmas alright.
I think this is all for this time.
from Arthur C.
