Dearest Heart:

This is my half day and I have spent it just resting. It has been dull gloomy weather for the last two weeks with fog most of the time and it seems to take all the energy out of one. Perhaps peace festivities are beginning to tell - at any rate I am rather longing for the holidays. Aunt Edie wants me to go to her for Christmas, then I think I shall go on to Mrs. Brook at [Hornsey?] for another few days and then back to London. I wonder just where you will be for this Christmas. Aunt Edie rather expects Ned too - he has had that troublesome toe amputated and will be just about ready for convalescence then. The men here are beginning their usual stir and preliminary packing in readiness. Although everything is all nicely done for them. Still they feel they must fuss a bit for themselves.

I hope you do go on to Germany - it would be rather a [] after all your expectations if you were left behind half way and I long for Jan to go too. I wonder when you will get any leave - it seems a long time since I have seen my dear old pal and I'm forgetting just what you look like. Do come soon dearie and send for me to meet you in gay Paris.

I had a letter from Laura this morning written just after she got my cable. She was so glad you had seen Pug - it seemed to relieve the anxiety so much to have sort of first hand news.

Our tug o war is still going strong with the Bungalow? Canadians holding their own - it has really become quite a fierce conflict and there may be blood shed over it yet!

All my love and kisses darling heart.

From your little pal Alice Leighton
