Dear Sir:

Thank you so kindly for your letter and message of sympathy in our great loss of our son-in-law, L/Cpl. George Rae. Thank you also for your explanation on the distribution of parcels sent to our boys. We only hope perhaps the few items in George's parcel, would bring comfort to some of his pals. It was a great shock to us when we learned of Georges death and was, honestly, very hard for us to have face the reality of the news. You see, I, too, have sons in the fighting fronts, one in Italy and one in Holland. Also George's brother in England who is also a son-in-law.

If you could find time, would you please send the facts and circumstance surrounding the battle in which Geordie was killed.

It is rather difficult to find something to say at this time but may we express our deep gratitude to the boys who thought so highly of George, as a leader and as a comrade?

We sincerely hope and pray as do millions of others, that the boys who are spared to come home, will soon see good Old Canada again, never having to leave again.

Again thanking you for your letter, I remain

Mr. D. Chandler

For: Mrs J. Rae
