Feb. 17, 1944. Dearest Mom - Here I am again. I've had one bad cold so far about a week ago. Since the skating packed in there isn't much to do around here except walk. The theatre is functioning and we've had a couple of plays and a band show. I've read a lot of good books and am now reading the Story of San Michele. Jim Olding knows about his promotions but is still at this camp. Frank and all the gang also well. I had a surprise the other day - I rec'd a letter from Lorne Henry, a fellow I palled around with at North Ward. He wrote from B.C. house in London. Ernie Underwood is a great friend of his brother. I told you some time ago about Earl Davis' aunt being Eva Chambers. It's a small world. I suppose you get the latest news flashes about the baby from Brenda. I'm eagerly waiting for the first letter describing the kid. Well, solong for now, love to all, Syd.
