Dear Lettie

I thought I would write you a few lines tonight to say I'm keeping well. I wrote to George yesterday and I told him I was going to try and send you something for Christmas so I am enclosing five dollars in bills for which I thought you'd buy something for yourself for I cannot send you anything from here worthwhile. For I can scarcely buy any tasty bits for myself. About the only thing you can buy is these fancy biscuit and bread but you certainly pay for them. We are back in billets just now for a few days but I have not received your box yet which you sent. Mr. Grant got his one tonight. I received a letter from Alex tonight and he said he had sent away a box too and that he was going in the hospital in another day or two to get his leg fixed up and I hope they make a success of it. This is about all the news at present. Hoping this will find you well, I remain as ever.
