Dear Lillian:
Its about time for me to answer some of your letters. Received the one from Tatamagouche and one from home written July 19th. One that you posted May 2nd, and addressed to the hospital, came a few days ago.
Thanks very much for the box. The cake was the best yet, and the stuffed dates were so good that I can handle a few in the next one you send.
I'm glad to hear that Willie is doing alright. I guess he is safe as far as coming back here is concerned. Roy has had a good long stay in England. Don't suppose he is very eager to get over here.
We have been here just six months and it seems like three. I hope it won't last another six. I'm getting tired of war.
I haven't heard from any of the boys at home for a long time. I intended to write Frank a few weeks ago but haven't done so yet.
It has been raining nearly every day for three weeks, but I don't mind while I have a tent to shelter me. I had a little touch of trench fever, and have been resting up lately. I'm beginning to feel alright again, so don't let anyone do any worrying about me.
You mentioned my colt in one of your letters, but I never heard anything from home about it. Don't say anything about it anyway.
Its nearly "lights out" so I must shake out my blanket.
Lovingly,
Reg.
