Thurs. June 28 -

In afternoon, I had a chance to be absent from parades to see Divisional sports near Mont St. Eloy. How nice the country seemed back there behind the lines. I watched the sports for awhile -running, jumping, etc. A bright sunny afternoon but could hear aeroplanes in air and guns booming in distance. Met a fellow who used to be in 46th - McMehan - now in 1st D.A.C. 3rd Sec. Went over there and saw Freddie Baxter of old 50th. Went to 3rd D.A.C. 4th Sec and found W.T. Brown of old 46th - had supper there. Not far away was the 9th Bde 3rd Div. so found 33rd & 45th Batteries. Saw McArthur, Avercrombie, Joe Greig, Lovelace and others. Greig was to go on pass to Paris next day. Very heavy rain came on and I got a little wet before I got back.
