My dear Mother,
Just a line to say that due to delay in letter delivery in Hospital, I only received yours of 9th inst yesterday. I hope you will not be away from Portstewart when this reaches there.
I believe that this letter will be my last from England for some time as about 40 of us are ‘under orders' for Canada.
I am very glad to know that you are travelling and taking some enjoyment out of life and do hope you will have a pleasant holiday.
I have been having a fine time this last week. A number of us were taken to Windsor Castle one day, and were shown through the state apartments You have got the picture of the exterior of the place at home. The interior is exquisite. We were served with tea and cake by the ladies including Princess of Teck. whom I interested in my experiences in France. Yesterday Mr. Hodge Minister of Labor, addressed us, and to night we had Rev. Mr. Meyer from London.
My feet are quite better since I changed to a fine pair of lighter boots.
I should have loved to have obtained leave again but as we were leaving so soon it is useless to apply. We do not know at what time we may go so I take this note as my last from here. A.M. Waite is not here he is proprietor of a group of Claims in the Northern Interior. My friend, is J.H.H. Guegan and he is returning to his unit in France. with a scar 5 inches long on his left thigh I am luckier than he, perhaps.
Well, dearest Mother I have been warned, whilst actually writing this letter to draw my kit so will cut off addressing the letter to home.
We sail pretty soon. Expect letter from me about four weeks from now.
With best wishes to you and to Dorothy.
I remain
Your loving son
Willie
