Aug 10 17 Dearest Mother Just a few lines this time to let you know I'm well and everything is going fine. Your letter of July 17 came right through and I was very, very, glad to know you are all better again. Have seen Orvil who is well and living comfortably in a good billet like myself. So David is flying now. Would like him to see the hundreds flying here, just now. The air is very clear just about 630 [?] and they are all up to see what they can gather. Am working away in a Brigade Headquarters Office and although it is clerical work (not fighting) it is a good change and to me very interesting. This keeps me busy from 9 am to midnight each day. There is always something new about the war and in the intelligence that comes by the depatch rider, which keeps an otherwise idle mind occupied besides being just near enough to the war to see it so I hope you wont worry at all as I no longer go forward with the telephone as before. Will write soon again and with kindest love to you all. Your loving son John
