Aug 18/18 Dearest Mother Just a few lines while I sit in the ‘Y' saiting for the train to Glasgow. Arrived in London the night before last and have reported to the RAF and have been granted two week's leave. I was in the push from Amiens for three days before coming here - my last days in France from some to come I believe. However I will write you more about it later. Am going to Uncle Johns in glasgow and then to see Grandpa but I do not know how I am going to Manchester. My funds are very low and I havenot enough to pay railway fare. I am very glad in one way to leave France and yet again sorry. I will miss my pals, the life, the excitement. In England I have comparative luxury after France but that is all. Will write from Glasgow. Love to all Your loving Son John.
