Thurs. Apr. 12 -

Ammunition is being packed up every day on horses - packs to carry eight rounds are strapped to saddle. Each driver looks after two pack horses - riding when packs are empty and walking when full. The roads are so bad that this is only way to get ammunition to advanced positions of guns. Even so, horses die every day - it is hard work for man or horse. Moved our horse lines to a drier place. Was on stable picket again - first beat.
