Flanders Sept 9 16 My Dear Mother Your most welcome letter re'cd a few days ago was glad to hear that every body was well. Same as this all us Aylmer Boys at present. We have had quite a spell of it in the trenches. It is quite cool here at night, cool enough to wear all our great coats every night. How is every body up at Alwin, Well I hope. Have you got my all letters which I sent from the rest camp in France. Oh bye the way I seen Harry Jowsey while passing through a town in Belgium but was not speaking to him for we were marching to one of the Camps. I had a letter from Stella saying that Bob was over in France now but I have not seen him since New Years. Oh Say Mother will you send me some Rex Smoking Tobacco as soon as possible for we cannot get it over here. It helps to keep us awake at night while in the trenches. I have written to GrandMother today as well, let me know if she gets it. Must close now as it is almost dark will write latter and tell some of our experiences so will say good by. Write soon. I remain as ever Your Loving Son Sam That little book keeps me good company in the evenings.
