#9" (Can) R74906 Sgt Pilot Davey J.V. 129 (Mysore) Sqdn. R.A.F. R.C.A.F. Overseas Nov 25/41 Dear Mom, Dad & Art: Received your 9th letter the other day from Uncle Harry also one from Aunt Necia. By what I can make out I am only missing one letter of yours, so thats not bad at all and all have taken from 3 to 4 weeks. I was sorry to hear of your set back Mom but trust you are on the right road again I sure hope so. Everybody over here seems to be O.K. by their letters. I have a head cold still, don't seem to be able to shake it. I am getting inhalents 3 times a day and they seem to be doing it some good, but it doesn't worry me much and I can sleep with it so I don't worry much it only sort of gets one down when flying, causes the ears to clog up when I go to high. But it will go one day. No we weren't on the boat, which was prominent in the news. I think we were ahead of it. Yes we had a good time coming over and am still having one, might as well. I am in a very good Sqdn now. The boys are first class chaps all young from 18 to 27 most are around 21 tho' & all are real fellows who know how to enjoy themselves, I like them all more than I did the boys in the first Sqdn I was with. Last Sat we all in 129 went to the Big town for a squadron do & did we have fun. We first went to Black Vanities & then to Café Royal for our dinner, it was really first class party. I had one of the nicest chicken pies I have had for a long time. As far as the English people & customs go I have no kick at all, we are always slamming one another about our habits, English lads against us and we against them but we are all good friends & have a darn good time together. Its a spirit, being like that on the ground means a lot when you're in the air no kidding. I wouldn't trade this for anything right now. but will probably when spring arrives it should be hot. As far as [censored] go I wouldn't trade those either, I'd sure like to be able to get out to Pat Bay with one, in a fighter squadron on Pacific Coast defence, it sounds good but not practicable Boy they've got every thing, lines, power & arms. I told you I had written to George but got the letter back I hope you will have sent his address in some letters to come as I would like to get in touch with him soon. Haven't seen Ted as yet but we are corresponding He tells me he got engaged to a girl he has been going around with for some time. He has been over here some time now. One thing I find wrong with English girls is that they are too possessive at least most of them Not like Canadian girls you can take one out one night, another the next & thats that, but over here you take a girl out twice & they seem to think they own you. but I have evaded so far. but a lot of chaps have had quite a time trying to get rid of gals its really funny tho' Glad to hear Ken Scharff got a Com. nice going, I'm still happy as a Sgt. but I would like a Com. just for you & Con. some day maybe will get one. So Cecil L. got his too - good show. has anyone heard about Hugh I sure would like to know what he is doing. Ray Walls has his too and Dick by now I suppose they will all be over soon. I hear Cuy is at work point now, thats a nice break. for him but I don't think I could stand being stationed in the army back there, a rather boring life I'm so used to be on the go, its going to be difficult to stay put after the show is over. How are Ada & Mel getting on, please say hello for me. I've just remembered I haven't written Aunt Mollie & Uncle Jim I thought I had done them all - so I had better get busy soon. One more month till Christmas. Have a good time, lots of presents & please take my $5000 & fin up something for everybody, yourselves & something nice for Con. Well I had a jolly surprise on Mon. 300 cigs, my first arrivals, came from Con & I can sure say they are good after Wood bines, Archers etc. no fooling. Now I must start an end to this as I have to swing my compass so till next time I'll say au revoir to you all with lots & lots of love. Loving son. Jack xxxxxx xxxx P/S Hows about a line Art. give me some gen.
