To my Friends at the Old School –

Once again I have you to thank for a very nice Christmas Parcel which I received about two weeks ago. About a year ago at this time I was writing a similar letter – I believe at the time I was waiting to go overseas from here. A lot of things have happened since then and I am now back in a country where the natives speak the same language as I, even if the local dialect makes it a trifle confusing at times.

Your parcel arrived in very good condition and was much appreciated. It must entail a good deal of work on your part to prepare all these gifts for the many graduates of Humewood School and I’m sure the rest of the boys get as much enjoyment out of receiving them as I do.

I still hear a great deal of the activities at the school from my three nieces who are very much in attendance there. It seems like centuries ago that I attended classes there – June, 1929, was the date when I left although I was frequently inside the school in the years following that on one occasion or another. No doubt my first view of the school when I return will bring back a lot of memories.

In the meantime, such memories as I have of life back in Toronto are enough to keep me going. Hope to see you soon and thank you personally.

Sincerely,

H.R. Croacher
