My Dear Mother: -

Just a line to you as we are leaving for overseas on the Toronto Express tomorrow morning at eight o'clock. I sent a parcel home today containing a sweater, coat, pair of tennis shoes and some books. This afternoon we were inspected by Col. Edgar, W.O.C. (?) and then we packed all our goods and have to be up at 5.00 am tomorrow to get breakfast and march down to the station. We are the only crew to leave here and hence trained by ourselves as far as Wpg. at least. We are certainly glad to be going for doing nothing is a tiresome job. There are thirty of us and Lieut. Creswell to make the trip. I will have the group photo sent home to you after it has been completed.

Yesterday night we had a big banquet, then a parade around the streets, then attended a dance in a body and finally another lunch at the cafe about 2.00 am and home in time for reveille. A group of soldiers are a newsy crowd when they get together. Reid is wiring to his friends at Brandon and I may see Aunt Lizzie at the station there as we get in at about 4.00 in the afternoon.

Tonight there are a few farewells to be said and as our blankets are all packed, I guess we will have to steal someone's bed to sleep in tonight.

Well, I'll close.

Will write more.
