Belgium Aug 13/16 Dear Dad Sunday again but it doesn't feel any different like it does at home. We went up fri night with supplies but things were fairly quite. Our guns opened up once but for some reason Fritz never retaliated. You get pretty tired coming back about four o'clock in the morning but going up the shells keep you awake. When the big shells come they sound like a freight train coming. Its funny you never seem to get used to them. The noise doesn't bother you but the more you see of their work the more you hate them. Stray bullets seem to get more fellows than anything on the roads but a bullet's a bullet whether its meant for you or not. A sergeant got it sitting on an ammunition waggon Friday night. I like the big ones better than snipers or machine guns because you can hear them coming in plenty of time and if you get it you might as well get it good. How are the dogs keeping I guess the old car will last another season wont it? Monday Evening Going up at half past nine with ammunition so is Coulter. Delworth is break man on our waggon. Will write soon again got a letter from Erma today. Love to all, Bert
