July 28/51.

Dear Mom:

Received all your letters and parcels, especially the one with the mickey.

I finally got my leave to Japan, five days and after Korea it was like heaven. We had a heck of a lot of fun but five days was a mighty short time, I wish we stay a lot longer.

The news seems to think that this war will pack up soon but I don't think so. It will just break out somewhere else.

Things are slow over here now, not much doing, just laying around getting fat and lazy.

I'll send the check back, I don't need it.

Ed.
