I do not know how it happened myself it was this way I went on leave to London& went up to see that Russian V.C. which I have been telling you about, he is on the Russian Embassy. The Ambassador happened to see me with the Military Medal ribbon on my chest ofcourse he asked me how I got it and I told him so he told me that I would not have to go back to France again, that he will give me a good job in England. so he did & that is the job he gave me, I like that work it is rather interesting.

How is Karl getting on, I did not hear from him for a long time, I don’t know his real adress, I wrote to his Battalion a few times & did not get any reply. How is everybody at home & how Is everything in Norwood.

I suppose there are not many young fellows left in Norwood as there are quite a few come under the Military Service Act. at present. Is that not so? No doubt you will find a few mistakes in this letter you see I am learning to write on a typewriter, and this is my first day practice, so I think that it is not so bad after all.

I am enclosing two photos of myself, took it in London (nearly broke the camera.)

Well Mr. Irwin. I think that this is about all I ve got to say for just now hoping that this letter will find you in the best of health with rest of family as it leaves me at present.
