Dear Mr. Irwin

Many thanks for your most welcome letter written Nov. 26th receved O.K. a few days ago.

Very glad to that the medal arrived O.K. I really don’t know what the medal looks like as I never seen it but they asked me where I want to send the medal and I gave them your adress I,am sure I could not get a better place to keep it for me, but would you mind and tell me what the medal looks like.

I never heard from my home people, and I have no Idea how they are I tried twice and the letter came back of course that was in the early stage of war, and I never tried since but I hope to hear from my people after the war

I hope the election goes true O.K. we were all voting here last Decemb. Union Govt for me any time.

Receved a letter from Karl last Nov. and he told me that he will join his unit very soon and I expect to see him when I come out of the trenches I do not think he will be far away from me I will be certainly glad to see him and chating about home sweet home.

I,am in the trenches at present and enjoying good health.

The weather out here is very bad, the trenches are very mudy but things can not be helped this is part of the game

Well Mr. Irwin I think that is about all for just now hoping this letter find you with rest of family in the best of health as it leaves me at present. With best wishes and kinder regards for all at home & wishing you a Merry Xmas & Happy New Year

I remain yours

Sincerely

Louis
