Dear Betts, -
Well I just came back from class – I was overdoing a little studying & seeing as how it is only 8.15 – I thought I'd write you a little letter.
We arrived here Monday and started classes yesterday and already we have practically learned one machine gun already – so we are really working here because we have a lot of work to cover – I guess we'll be flying by the end of the week.
Here are some more pictures for the book – I hope it is nearly finished – because I'll be home soon now & I'd hate to spend part of my leave mucking around with it.
I guess you are back at school by now – plugging away at the same old grind.
I see by the last letter you wrote – and from what Mom told me when she was down that Doug Lemmon is the new heart interest – well he's a pretty good kid so its alright by me.
I was made flight senior by popular vote yesterday – so now I'm an acting corporal but I don't get paid for it – so it doesn't matter very much.
Tell Mom I haven't got even a stamp – excuse me I just borrowed one – but I haven't any more so better send some if you want to hear again before the 16th.
I'm also right out of cigarettes I'm smoking my pipe now cause I haven't even one red cent – so some cigarettes would be greatly appreciated.
Say sis – here's an idea – when you're not out running around with Doug you might whip me up a batch of cookies.
You had better start studying right at the first of the year if you hope to get to Margaret Eaton next year – so not too much fooling around.
I'll write again when I find some more stamps
Loads of Love to yourself & Mom.
- see you soon.
Bill.
