My Dear Ones at Home:

Tonight I must get you another letter written, while I still have a comfortable place to write from. When I write to you again, facilities for doing so will be few.

We have joined our battalion at last and have been put into our companies. Argyle and I are together and are sure to remain so now. In our company there are several of our old boys.

We had our choice of companies; that is we could join any one we pleased. We found that every Coy. except D had eaten their 'Xmas dinner, so we decided to join D. The other companies had a regular 'Xmas dinner in the Y.M.C.A. Hut but the provisions for D. Coy did not arrive, & so our 'Xmas dinner consisted of potatoes & cabbage & tea. They tell us that the turkey & pudding is still to come, & that we will get it wherever we are But 'I ha'e me doots' After the supper, eaten we met in D coy. was Billy Smart who worked at Horemans in Arden. He is a decent little fellow and unlike a good many fellows he has not lost any of his principals, in the army. I think that Mac. and I will find him a good chum. He was as glad to see us as we were to see him.

There are so many things that I would like to tell you, but cannot. I do hope you get all my letters.

Goodnight

Lovingly

 Markle
