Dear Madam-
I much regret to have to inform you of the death in action of your son, #102286, Pte. W.P. Jones. He was killed instantly in the line on the 15th inst. & was buried by me yesterday in the military cemetery in this area. His personal effects are being forwarded on to you but may be some time reaching you.
May I express to you my very sincere sympathy in your loss & may God comfort & strengthen you in your sorrow.
