Just a line or two to let you know that we are finally on our way. We left Edmonton about 12:45 and, in spite of extreme cold, had quite a crowd to see us off. I saw Liulf and Alice, Bill Webb, Jack Fletcher, Lloyd Young, Aunt Bec and several others. I was glad you weren’t there as it was really cold. The boys are, for the most part, feeling very good and the liquid refreshments are plentiful.
I for one was dead sober and glad of it. Well, we are nearing Tofield, so will close now. I will write you when we reach the coast and will try to give you a blow by blow account of the trip. I hope that some of the gang are out to see us go through, but in any case, love to all.
Alastair
P.S. Please try to read and excuse this awful writing as the train is rocking like a boat.
