The following letter was received by Mr. C.W. Hewitt, William Street, on Tuesday off this week from his cousin Pte. T. Barrell, No. 4 company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Brigade, British Expeditionary Force in France, dated March 9:
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hewitt:
Just a few lines to let you know I am feeling well but was sorry to hear that Clem had been in Hospital. Pleased to hear he is getting on satisfactorily, and I sincerely hope he will get on all right now. I hope you and the children are quite well now. We have been in the trenches several times now, and we have been pretty lucky up till now. We had one or two casualties. I am quite a long way from Walter Brown and will try and see him and he will tell Capt. Abell about you. They are both well, I believe. We shall not be sorry to set back again, but I don't think it will be yet awhile. We shall have lots to tell you when we do get back. We must not mention any places where we are or where we are going. I think this is all for now so will conclude with best of wishes and all good luck.
Yours sincerely.
T. BARRELL.
Note - This letter is also signed by Capt. Herb. Bolster.
