Dear Mother & All.

It will be quite a surprise for you to hear that I am in hospital. I has a pain in my left lung and a slight temperature so the M.O said a rest would not do me any harm. They have taken a swab to see if I have dyphtheria but I can hardly see how it can be that. We shall find out shortly.

The day before I came here two had two letters from Mother, two from Gladys and one from aunt Lavilla. Has Leila given up writing. It is lovely trying to write here. You say I never mention receiving the papers. I think I mention getting them every time they arrive. Perhaps some of my letters go down. I do receive the papers and also the two parcels that were sent.

I am glad to hear that my guns are being looked after it wouldn’t do to have then in other but careful hands.

Was very pleased to hear that you were all well & having a real good time. There is nothing like having a real good time while you have the chance. I would certainly like to have taken part in some of your trips up the lakes or are you speak about having at Little L. I used to have some lovely times around that lake.

I was just getting alone nicely at flying when this put a stop to it. No doubt it will mean my starting over again that is if I stay here any length of time. If the swab is negative I shall not be here long.

You want some of the photos I had well I have still the large one afraid to send it home on a count of subs. When I go back to England I will send it on with several others I have.

News seems very scarce in here so I shall close for the present hoping the next time I write I shall be out of here.

With love

Alfred.
