Dear Mother- Just a few lines this morning to let you know I am getting along all right. I got a letter a couple of days ago from dad dated Oct 3rd. It is the first one I had since I took sick I have lost my brothers entirely I guess as I cant find get any word from them.

I am up all the time now and help with the work it is far better than doing nothing. I never eat any meat but get fish seven days a week. I think I will be able to swim home. They are clearing all the Yanks and Aussies out of here this week so I think maybe they will soon clear the Canadians out too. I would rather wait here to be cured than go home for one thing. I would like to get a good furlough here. The Red Cross lady is very nice. She sends me anything she thinks I need. If she does as much for all the Canadians as she does for me she is doing pretty well.
