Dear Mrs. Beath.

I deem it a duty and a privilege to write a few lines regarding your son.

Your son was a stretcher bearer attached to the platoon which I had the honour to command and was killed about 6 am. on the morning of Oct 26th as we were going into action.

Your son was one of our best stretcher bearers and was very devoted to his duties and was indifferent to his own safety when there was wounded to look after.

We all join in extending to you our deepest sympathy in your loss and our own regrets at losing a brave comrade and good soldier.

Yours very sincerely.
