Dear child Emmily you may think I have forgoten you but, I have not I think of you every our of the day and the dear boy is before me most of the time I think of him and his father being to gather that is the most comforting thought I have dear little John how we loved him we must bow our heads and except the loss

Just think of the Mothers that have lost their dear boys fiting for us this is a erable time I did hope John would be spared but not so do try to be reconciled we can do nothing so try to dry your tears and live for the loved ones you have left

I am glad you are so well I am verry well but verry lonely this winter [?] Mary comes out quite often we expect Robert Lick to come down this winter I expect Cecil is all right yet it is terable my children have to go to fight I don’t now what will come to us yet quite a lot of boys have gone to the war from here some of them will never come back I was so glad to get a letter from you hope to hear from you soon again be shure to write soon your loving Mother
