My dear Mrs. Boggs
How can I write to you?
The only thing I can say is, my heart bleeds for you, you poor dear soul. The loss of your noble son is indeed a loss but he died fighting for his Country a glorious death!!! May God grant you strenth to bear your sorrow. Katie and I have thought constantly of you and grieved so for you. Accept our deepest sympathy and extend the same to Mr Boggs Mary.
