My dear Boggs,
I have heard with great regret of the death of your second son; and am sending you a line to express my deep sympathy with you and your wife.
It is a great sacrifice that you have been called upon to make for your Country; but your grief will be tempered by the thought that your boy died the noblest death of all, on the field of battle fighting for his King and Country.
Believe me
Yours very sincerely
