7th Canadian Bn.

Dear Madam,

Your letter of the 8th inst. to hand in reference to the effects of the late Lieut H.B. Boggs. On enquiry I find that Mrs. N.C. Cooper, Red Cross Military Hospital, Thame, Oxon will be able to give you the information required re the sword. Mrs. Cooper is the wife of the Company Commander No.3. Capt. Cooper and their swords were packed together and left at the Base, Salisbury. If you will please communicate with her I think the sword will easily be traced. I am forwarding under separate cover the personal effects which you say you will forward on. Will you please let me know if you receive them safely.

We all deeply mourn the death of our comrade, who was one of our keenest and most promising officers. He was buried at Ploughsteert Church, Belgium the Regt. Chaplain taking the service and his company attending, also many officers including the Brigadier. A cross has been erected and the grave properly cared for. It maybe of comfort for those near to him to know that he suffered a painless death, giving up his life whilst on duty with his company amongst who he was so popular. Any further information you should require will be answered.
