Dear Mother
Just a line to let you know I am still in the country and able to sit up and take a little nourishment as the saying goes. I have had four letters from home this past week one old one of Mary’s dated early July and three dated Aug 8 and 13 one from you dated Aug 13th one from Reita dated Aug 8 from Ottawa and one from Clara from St. Stephen N.B. Gee the girls seem to be doing some travelling these hard times. They are not trying to keep up my mileage are they. According to your and their reports people are still having some sort of a good time around Canada yet.
We are still in the same old routine down around here and although there are strong rumors of getting leave in January I dont know whether it will come off or not. If we get it I guess we will be in England for a time whether we come back here or not you never can tell. Let us hope for a change anyway.
The light rains are here now in some parts of the country although we have had none at this place. They should only last a short time and then we get a dry month before the rain starts in earnest (The pen and this paper dont get along well)
I suppose by the time this letter reaches you it will be past New Year I timed the last one for Christmas. Sorry I can not some presents but I dont think its any use.
Well Mother I had better close for this time hoping this finds you all in good health after the holidays I will say Bye Bye with lots of love to all my friends and relatives too numerous to mention
I remain
Your loving son
Harold.
