[The date of November 1941 has been assigned based on content – most strongly from the type of plane being flown and from details in Jack’s brother’s letter (Lt. Robert Hampton Gray Collection, letter of 1941-11-26) about their recent visit together.]
[message on front of card: “To Greet You With all Good Wishes”]
My Dearest Mother and Father,
All my love and best wishes for Christmas and New Year. No gifts this year to you as it is not allowed. I’m afraid your younger son is feeling a little sorry for himself as we get near this season but next one we will be home I hope. Hope to see Hampton but I haven’t heard from him since our visit nearly a week ago. Have a good Christmas and I hope business rushes you.
Your loving son
John
