KING HONORS NELSON MAN FOR TIRPITZ SINKING
OTTAWA, Jan. 27 [handwritten above:“1945”] (CP) —
Two Canadian naval officers, serving with the Royal navy’s fleet air arm, who took part in the air blows which resulted in the destruction of Germany’s greatest battleship, the “Admiral von Tirpitz," last August, have been honored by the King, naval service headquarters announced today.
The officers, who have been mentioned in despatches, are Lieut. Robert Hampton Gray, of Nelson, B.C., and Lieut. James Finlay Ross, Truro, N.S.
