Dec. 6/43.
Dearest Audrey:
Hello darling, I received your letter of Oct. 18th to-day. Sure was swell to hear from you honey. At about the time you were writing it, I was just getting in to Halifax. The letter just took a little over two months to reach me but I got it and that is all that counts.
It must be pretty nice to be able to go to Vancouver on a week-end. It seems so long ago and so far away, that it is like a wonderful dream come true just to have been able to do those things.
As it is right now I’m darn lucky if I ever get a week-end off. I am supposed to get a week-end at Xmas, but, the way things are now it is very doubtful.
Well honey I’m pleased to hear you are enjoying yourself. What I wouldn’t give just to be back skating, bowling, and all the other things we did. There is ice-skating and dancing over here but I’m not so keen for either. My partner isn’t here with me. Someday I’ll have her again and if you don’t mind me saying so it can’t come soon enough for me.
Well honey chile I had better hurry up with this. It is nearly dinner time and I had better have at least one meal. I haven’t been feeling so hot the last few days and as far as a sick-bay is concerned, they know what they can do. It is absolutely hopeless to get any good service in it. A person has to be nearly dead before they will do anything. This doctor over here is going to get an ear ful if ever I have to see him again, and honey I’m not kidding. I sure feel rotten though, but it can’t last much longer.
Gosh honey I still haven’t heard from home yet. I guess they are writing by ordinary letters, if that is so I won’t get a letter for quite a while to come. These only take a few days. I have to be signing off for now darling but will write again real soon. Give my love to all. Don says hello to you and the girls.
All my Love and Kisses
Bill
