Dead Dad,

It is just eight o’clock and I have been, since coming off duty, down to Sandgate, to order more prints like those I sent mother yesterday. Also had a piece of apple pie and a fruit salad. A couple of girls have a restaurant in what was apparently a garage. They sure put up good stuff. After I get down the hill, there is a dandy walk of half a mile before the business part of the town, and it is on a very wide cement walk, built just out of reach of high tide. It is fine but much better in the daylight of summer. It is terribly dark. The channel is very choppy to-night and the big search lights are busy raking the clouds for Zepps. One of our boys returned from a pass to London this morning, and said there was a raid there last night and yesterday afternoon there was one not far from London. They are getting bold, but I believe the sea-plane that made the raid during the afternoon, was brought down after dropping about ten bombs.

I have been thinking over the parcels, and from all your letters, I believe the first one contained testament and prayer book, etc. so it must be the second one that I have, if only, two were sent. After this, I think when posting these, Mother had better post a note with shipping date, and contents of parcel, then I will know for sure.

Things are running along pretty well here now and if we could only get a reasonable amount of time off, it would be pretty fair. It is not as cold as it was for a few days, and is sure fine sleeping in the tents when it does not rain too much. It is funny how it rains here now last night, thro the night, it rained like fury for probably a half hour but that does not leak thro. Only about once a week, we have a rain that counts we have never been flooded out yet tho, as our tents are in a good spot.

Earl Parker and I did not find Lloyd Fick in last night. He is a Sgt. Major, but I don’t see how he got it. If they are handing things out like that, I think I will go over and get some. He has charge I think of the cars in the motor transport.

I just notice you say that the Leach parcel was sent in the same box with the pen, but I did not find it in this parcel, and am sure, I emptied the box. Be sure and let me know about this.

Sorry your man did not come, but they must be very hard to get them now. A druggist here told me the other night, that in England they cannot even keep a man to do there dispensing, but in some of the drug stores in Folkestone, they have four or five men around the store. Of course they may be unfit, but look all right.

I just head that they put a bunch of our men at a hospital near here, thro a medical test to-day, and said only four out of about 50 would be fit to go overseas. I don’t know what this will mean, we may hear more of it later.

Well I must get to bed.

Your affectionate son,
Worth.
