Dear Dad,

As usual, this will not be very long, but it is 7 P.M. and I have been cooped up all day and there is a band concert outside and I need the air.

I have your letter of 16/5/18 O.K. Glad Uncle Well’s proposition is turning out well. What material do they use in this work and how is it moulded? I believe it would be very interesting and I am anxious to see the work done. Are they just on [heads?] or the finished article?

Sure you will be glad to see the Calgary people, I wish you could take a trip out there. Did Percy and family return from California or are they still there?

Finances seem to be pretty good, hope they keep as well. It would be pretty tough to lose miss [Stiver?] and I don’t see any chance of being back inside of two years. Of course you can never tell what time things will take. We will not likely be up for leave till here twelve months. The first six have passed quickly tho.

How are your roses this year? I was thinking about them the other night. They should amount to something by this time. I wish you could see the gardens they have here. They are great, every bit of available ground is being used and we are stocking up with rabbits and pigs. Will soon have a regular farm.

I wish you would send Burns all the work he can handle. It would make it easier for you, relieve you for the other work. I hope he is not drafted.

That Thompson [Tillan?] affair sure is a funny one. Don’t see what in the deuce he wanted to get married for anyway. I hardly thought they would draft him.

This is my night on picquet and likely we will be busy too. No reason to kick lately tho, as they have left us fairly well alone, but not for long likely.

Love to all,
Your affectionate son,
Worth.
