My dear wife and sweetheart
This is my usual week end letter I did not get over to longmore camp, so dont know who that fellow is yet. I have some good news for you, I am doing my best to transfer in to another outfit which is going to Mesopotamia the garden of Eden, and if I make it Im going as a steam fitter, so that will be alright, Capt Kane is going to, of course I dont know whether Ill make it or not, but hope I will. Im going to write to Bert to-day, this is my fourth letter to you, so hope Ill soon get an answer from you. How are you getting along and little sweetheart how is she behaving herself I hope she is getting along at school allright and that she likes it better than she use to. This military life isn’t what it is cracked up to be, its getting to much like work over here, and their is no talk of going to France yet. I forgot to tell you in my last letter that I have a girl in London, only she is engaged to another fellow, who is in Egypt now, so I guess their is no chance for me, have you got a fellow yet you want to set your cap for someone, in case I get one over here. I don’t know what to put in a letter because everything is the same here day after day lots of drill when I get a letter from you, Ill be more contented and then if you’ll ask me lots of questions I’ll answer them, well be good Kiddo and write soon remember me to everybody
