1914/18 Canadian Forces casualties
I have to inform you that the German graves services have been removing German casualties of the 1914/18 War from cemeteries in Belgium and in the course of operations in the German Military Cemetery at Geluwe-Ter-Hand, W. Flanders discovered the remains of a "Canadian soldier, Metheral T.A.".
These remains have been identified as those of Lieut. Thomas Arthur METHERAL, Saskatchewan Regiment, and 45th Sqdn. Royal Flying Corps, who was killed 5th June 1917.
Reburial has now been effected in the Commission Cemetery at Cement House Cemetery, Iangemarcke, Belgium, Plot XVIII, Row C, Grave 11.
It is understood that the Director of War Service Records does not consider it necessary at this late date to endeavour to trace the next-of-kin, but it would be appreciated if confirmation of the regimental and personal details shewn below could be forwarded to this office to enabl[e?] a Commission Headstone to be erected over the grave.
"METHERAL, Lieut. Thomas Arthur, Saskatchewan Regt., and 45th Sqdn. Royal Flying Corps, date of death 5th June 1917. Age 22. Son of T.F. and Martha Metheral, of 1140 Algoma Avenue, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada."
