My Two Dearest Little Sisters Marg and Marie,–
Well girls here I am again and still writing you from the 13 Gen. Hosp. Some of my mail has finally caught up with me. I received 5 letters yesterday and among them was the card you sent on 14th Marie. I was extra glad to receive these as I hadn't had any mail since the 18th. I should be getting cigarettes in a short time I expect.
They took 7 stitches out of my dome about an hour ago. The M.O. said that it shouldn't leave a white mark if it heals up like it has been doing. He made a real good job of it.
My ear also is coming along very good except that I can't hear high pitched tones. But should be able to in time. They shouldn't keep me much longer in the hospital, I hope. I am anxious to get started on this leave.
I haven't much to tell you girls because sitting in a hospital isn't the place to find news. We hear the odd bus bomb or flying bomb come overhead once in awhile. None have ever landed near where I have been or near the hospital but I have heard them land from a distance. They look just like an airplane and have an extra loud motor or whatever runs them. As they pass over you can see the flame shooting from the tail of the bomb. The Ack Ack batteries and R.A.F. don't let very many get far inland, but the odd one manages to get through and they really cause damage and destroy property when they hit. We have some of the casualties in the hospital here.
Well girls words are getting scarce so for now I'll say “so long” and you'll here from me soon. I will probably be on leave when I write to you.
