Dear Mother

We are on the ship and under way. We left Montreal this morning at 6.00[?].

This is only a small and slow boat but it is new. It's a C.P.R. boat. I will try and get a photo of it and enclose it.

We have about 2,000 soldiers on board and a few civilians. We all have the run of the ship. I am in a 2nd class berth so am lucky.

Well I will have to finish now as we are getting near Quebec and they are calling for mail.
