My Dear Mother :-

You have been advised that your only warrior is a casualty and I suppose that you will be scanning every mail for my letter. It is a very slight affair and I am getting along very good. It was a machine gun bullet in my left thigh, about four inches above the knee. I arrived at No. 23 General Hospital early yesterday morning and about noon the bullet was located by the X-ray and early in the afternoon I went to the operating theatre where the offending missile was extracted. I am in bed and won't get up for a few days as the muscles are quite stiff and sore. I should get to England in a short time. When I get located more definitely I will write you further particulars. Till then bye-bye. With love from Yours

Frank
