Rested all forenoon. I went out to look over roads in afternoon and had charge of guides for incoming Bn. Had a very narrow escape from shell. Officer of Tanks and one of my guides were killed and 7 men wounded. I had run on ahead to stop the limber. Had been walking with the officer for a mile. Up most of night.
