Dear Mom & Dad,
Forgive me for not writing for a while. I am now on a very un-organized, dreary, station, about 90 miles west of London. The food is none too good and there's nothing to do here. We'll probably start work tomorrow and we'll get either 36 hrs. or 48 hrs. leave every other week-end. (maybe). I think we can apply for quarterly leave after the 15th of this month. I'll be spending all my spare time and money for train fares between here and L'pool, or B'pool. I hope this finds you and everyone else well at home. I'm still losing weight, but I don't feel too badly, yet. I had my photo taken just the day before I left Bournemouth. I got six small copies made for 10/.6D. They are mailing them here to me. They won't be ready till Oct. 25. Has Jim go his discharge yet. I guess I told you before, that I'll probably do 18 months here yet. I'd like to get posted up north though, and so have more time with Marg. Don't be surprised if nothing comes off, however, because there's no end to obstacles when I start thinking about it. Well, I'd better hit the sack now. We live in Nissen huts by the way. Goodnight.
Your loving son,
Joe.
