Mr Irwin
Norwood, Ont
Dear Mr Irwin
Just a line to let you know that I am quite well and getting along fine, hope you are the same. I had not very good luck on November the 10th I got wounded with shrapnel near the right eye and right leg, being in Hospital in France for fifteen days & now I am at the Base. I received your last letter when I was in the trenches but I am very sorry I could not answer you then I met Doxie in the trenches last November. I do not know where he is now last I heard of him he was wounded maybe he is in England by now also I met Puffer at the Base. I think he is going up the line very soon he told me that they are forming a new platform of men in Norwood hope they have success. I would not mind to be in Norwood now. What a hope! I think it would not be long and the war will come to a end and I will be there again. How is everything in Norwood now it must be a change since I left. How is everybody in your family are they well? How are the Boys? I was very sorry to hear about Mrs Humphries being dead she was awful good to me. The weather is not much around here its raining near every day. They say sonny France but I don’t think it. Well I think I’ll have to sing off as I have not much to say [?] for the season. I am yours very truly.
Louis
