Dear Uncle Ed:-

I am glad mother wrote you all about my wedding as I didn’t have time to myself, much as I would liked to have, and now I want to thank you for your lovely gift, I will write mother to keep it till I get back home & then I will buy something with it for my own home to keep always and will think of dear Uncle Ed when I see it.

Isn’t it wonderful that the fighting is over. I can hardly realize it yet. Soon we will all be coming home & how happy we will be. My contract is up here the 2nd of February and I may sail soon after that as my husband may have to sail direct from France, for Canada with his men. He is a major you know and in command of a battery, but the Canadian troops won’t be leaving France for sometime yet so I may get home first.

We are very busy still here in the hospital, for as the French hospitals evacuate we get them over here. I am on night duty and will be till after Xmas.

I have had a photograph taken in my outdoor uniform that I was married in and I hoped to have them in time send you one for Xmas, but you will get it early in the new year.

I got your other letter some time ago and intended answering it right away, but in this work our time is not our own.

We ought to feel very thankful that we have all been spared and I hope it won’t be long before we get back home again.

Give my love to Cousins Nell & Kate when you see them for although I have never seen them I feel as though I knew them well.

You loving niece

Nettie
